A simple, 5-ingredient overnight oats recipe that combines rolled oats, peanut butter, milk, chia seeds, and protein powder for a creamy, high-protein breakfast ready in minutes of prep time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Add 1 cup of old-fashioned rolled oats, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, and 1 scoop of protein powder to a mason jar or airtight container.
  2. Pour in 1 cup of milk, along with vanilla extract and maple syrup if using.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter to the jar.
  4. Stir vigorously with a spoon or whisk to incorporate the peanut butter and break up any protein powder clumps. Ensure the peanut butter is dispersed throughout the mixture.
  5. Seal the jar tightly and shake well to mix.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  7. Before eating, stir the oats well. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk and stir again.
  8. Serve cold, optionally topped with banana slices, extra peanut butter, or cinnamon.

Notes

Do not use quick oats or steel-cut oats as they will not achieve the desired texture. Old-fashioned rolled oats are essential. Ensure peanut butter is mixed well to avoid clumps. The oats will continue to absorb liquid, so add more milk if needed before serving. Best consumed within 3-5 days.
