A quick and spooky Halloween appetizer featuring a creamy spinach base topped with a melted cheese spider web. This easy dip comes together in under 30 minutes using simple pantry staples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream, full-fat
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 10 ounces frozen spinach, thawed
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Thaw frozen spinach completely and squeeze out as much liquid as possible using a sieve or cheesecloth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until smooth.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, diced onion, dried dill, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Fold in the squeezed spinach until fully combined.
  6. Spread the mixture evenly into an 8×8 or 9×9 inch baking dish, creating a slight well in the center.
  7. Mix shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Place in a small Ziploc bag with the corner snipped off.
  8. Drizzle cheese in a zig-zag pattern over the dip, then drag a toothpick through the lines to create a spider web effect.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure spinach is thoroughly squeezed dry to prevent a watery dip. Cream cheese should be fully softened to avoid lumps. The dip can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated. Do not freeze as the dairy may separate.
