A quick and easy recipe for crispy, tender mini donuts made in the air fryer, perfect for family breakfasts with less mess and oil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) milk (whole or 2%, or almond milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup sugar + 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, chocolate glaze, or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, beat egg with milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Bring batter together: Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Shape the donuts: Grease donut pan and fill 3/4 full, or pipe/spoon batter onto parchment paper in rings or dollops.
  6. Cook in batches: Place donuts in air fryer basket without touching, cook for 5-6 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown.
  7. Coat the donuts: Toss warm donuts in cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat in air fryer for 1-2 minutes to regain crispness.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the batter to keep donuts tender. Flip donuts halfway through cooking for even browning. Lightly spray air fryer basket to prevent sticking. For extra crispiness, spritz donuts with cooking spray before air frying. Store leftovers in airtight container or freeze for up to a month.
