A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe featuring crispy skin and tender flesh, enhanced with fresh lemon and dill for a bright, flavorful finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (skin-on, about 6 oz/170g each)
  • 1 large lemon (juiced and zested)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (sea salt or kosher salt recommended)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture from the skin and flesh.
  2. In a small bowl, combine lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped dill, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well blended.
  3. Brush the lemon dill mixture evenly over the flesh side of the salmon fillets, avoiding the skin side to keep it dry for crisping. Reserve some marinade for serving if desired.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Place salmon fillets skin side down in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching for even cooking.
  6. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes depending on thickness; 9 minutes is typical for 1-inch-thick fillets. The skin should be crispy and the flesh opaque and flaky. Check at 8 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  7. Let the salmon rest for 2 minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute. Optionally, drizzle reserved lemon dill mixture on top before serving.

Notes

Patting the salmon dry is essential for crispy skin. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Preheat the air fryer for best results. Check salmon at 8 minutes to prevent overcooking. Optionally flip halfway for more even crispness. Leftovers keep well for up to 2 days and reheat best in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to maintain crisp skin.
