A quick and easy Halloween punch with lime sherbet, pineapple juice, and a dramatic dry ice fog effect. Perfect for parties, this creamy, fizzy, and spooky green drink is a crowd-pleaser that comes together in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 quart lime sherbet
  • 4 cups pineapple juice (unsweetened)
  • 4 cups lemon-lime soda (e.g., Sprite or 7Up)
  • 2 cups ginger ale
  • 1 cup lime juice (fresh squeezed or bottled)
  • 1 cup water
  • 23 pounds dry ice (block form)
  • Hot water (for activating dry ice)
  • Green food coloring (optional, gel preferred)
  • Gummy worms or spiders (optional, for garnish)
  • Ice ring or skull-shaped ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher or bowl, combine 4 cups pineapple juice, 4 cups lemon-lime soda, 2 cups ginger ale, 1 cup lime juice, and 1 cup water. Stir gently to combine, being careful not to lose too much carbonation.
  2. Scoop the entire quart of lime sherbet into the punch base. Break it up into smaller chunks with a spoon; it doesn’t need to be fully melted yet.
  3. If desired, add a few drops of green food coloring (about 5-6 drops) and stir to achieve a more intense green color.
  4. Set up your punch bowl in a safe, stable location. Place a heatproof container (metal or heatproof glass) in the center of the punch bowl to hold the dry ice.
  5. Carefully pour the punch base into the bowl around the heatproof container, ensuring the container sits above the liquid level.
  6. Using kitchen tongs, place 2-3 pounds of dry ice into the heatproof container. Never touch dry ice with bare hands.
  7. Pour hot tap water (not boiling) over the dry ice in the container to activate the fog effect. Add more hot water as needed to maintain the fog.
  8. Add optional garnishes like gummy worms, plastic spiders, or skull-shaped ice cubes.
  9. Ladle the punch into cups, being careful not to disturb the dry ice container. Serve immediately and ensure guests know not to touch or consume the dry ice.

Notes

Do not put dry ice directly into the punch; always use a separate container. Dry ice can cause frostbite if touched and is dangerous if ingested. Keep the sherbet frozen until ready to use for best texture. The dry ice effect lasts about 15-20 minutes per batch of hot water; refresh as needed. For a dairy-free version, use lime sorbet instead of sherbet. For an adult version, add 2 cups of white rum or vodka.
