A simple, refreshing summer drink made with fresh watermelon, lime juice, water, and a touch of sweetener. Perfect for hot days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups (900g) seedless watermelon, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 cups (480ml) water
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons (15-30ml) agave syrup, honey, or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish or muddling)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by cutting the watermelon into roughly 1-inch cubes and juicing the limes.
  2. Place the watermelon cubes into a blender or food processor with about ½ cup (120ml) of water. Pulse or blend on high until mostly smooth but still textured.
  3. Optional: Strain the blended watermelon through a fine mesh strainer to remove excess pulp if a smoother texture is desired.
  4. Stir in the remaining 1 ½ cups (360ml) of water, fresh lime juice, and sweetener. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  5. Chill the agua fresca in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors.
  6. Serve over plenty of ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves and a lime wheel if desired.

Notes

Use short pulses when blending to keep some pulp for texture. Always chill the drink before serving for best flavor. Adjust sweetener based on watermelon sweetness. Fresh lime juice is preferred over bottled. Add ice just before serving to avoid dilution.
