A quick and easy homemade snack mix perfect for summer nights, blending sweet, salty, and crunchy flavors with a nostalgic twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cornflakes cereal
  • 1 cup mini pretzels
  • 1 cup roasted salted peanuts
  • 1 cup cheese-flavored crackers (like Cheez-Its or Goldfish)
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Measure out all your base, sweet additions, and flavor boosters.
  2. Warm the honey in a small saucepan over low heat for about 1 minute until runny, or microwave in 15-second bursts, stirring in between.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, toss together cornflakes, mini pretzels, roasted peanuts, and cheese crackers until evenly distributed.
  4. Sprinkle smoked paprika, garlic powder, and a pinch of sea salt over the dry mix and stir gently to coat evenly.
  5. Slowly pour the warm honey over the snack mix while stirring gently with a spatula or spoon to lightly coat the pieces without clumping.
  6. Fold in dried cranberries and chocolate chips carefully to distribute evenly.
  7. Optional: Spread the mixture on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 300°F (150°C) for 5-7 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  8. Let the mix cool completely if toasted, then transfer to an airtight container. Ready to enjoy immediately or store for up to 1 week.

Notes

Warm honey gently to avoid crystallization. Add chocolate chips last to prevent melting. Toasting is optional but adds extra crunch and flavor. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels and cereal. For vegan, substitute honey with maple syrup. Nut-free options include pumpkin or sunflower seeds.
