A light, crisp, and refreshing summer cocktail combining elderflower liqueur, gin, fresh cucumber, and mint for a perfect easy-to-make spritz.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz London dry gin (e.g., Bombay Sapphire)
  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur (e.g., St-Germain)
  • Half a medium cucumber, sliced thinly (English cucumber preferred)
  • 810 fresh mint leaves, gently torn or muddled
  • 3 oz chilled soda water
  • Ice cubes (preferably large)
  • Lemon or lime wedge (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Slice half a medium cucumber into thin rounds or blend into a light puree and set aside.
  2. Place 8-10 fresh mint leaves at the bottom of a highball or large wine glass. Gently muddle the mint leaves to release aroma without bitterness (about 20 seconds).
  3. Add the sliced or blended cucumber into the glass with the mint. If using slices, gently press them against the glass to release some juice (30 seconds).
  4. Measure and add 2 oz gin followed by 1 oz elderflower liqueur to the glass (15 seconds).
  5. Fill the glass with large ice cubes to chill the mixture without diluting it too fast (10 seconds).
  6. Slowly pour 3 oz chilled soda water over the ice, filling the glass (10 seconds).
  7. Using a bar spoon, gently stir to combine all ingredients while keeping the fizz intact (15 seconds).
  8. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a thin cucumber slice on the rim. Optionally, squeeze a wedge of lemon or lime for a bright citrus note. Serve immediately (5 seconds).

Notes

Gently muddle mint to avoid bitterness. Use large ice cubes to prevent quick dilution. Blend cucumber for a smoother texture or use slices for a crunchier feel. Adjust elderflower liqueur quantity to taste. For non-alcoholic version, omit gin and add elderflower cordial or extra soda water.
