Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz aged cheddar, sliced or cubed
  • 8 oz brie wheel
  • 6 oz smoked gouda, cubed
  • 4 oz goat cheese log
  • 1 cup mini candy bars (e.g., Snickers, Milky Way)
  • ½ cup candy corn
  • ½ cup gummy worms or spiders
  • ½ cup dark chocolate pieces (70% cocoa or higher)
  • 1 cup red and green grapes, washed and separated into small clusters
  • 1 apple, sliced and tossed with lemon juice
  • ½ cup dried figs or apricots
  • 1 cup butter crackers (e.g., Ritz)
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks
  • ½ baguette, sliced
  • Halloween sprinkles (optional)
  • Edible eyes (optional)
  • Honey or caramel sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Wash and dry grapes. Cut apple into thin slices and toss with lemon juice. Unwrap candy bars. Cube cheddar and gouda into ½-inch pieces. Leave brie whole or cut into wedges. Place goat cheese log on a small plate or directly on the board.
  2. Set up small bowls: Place 3-4 small bowls or ramekins on the board in a triangle pattern to hold loose candies (candy corn, gummy worms) and sauces.
  3. Place the cheese: Position brie at the center or slightly off-center. Arrange cheddar and gouda cubes in small clusters around it. Place goat cheese log on one side.
  4. Add crackers and bread: Fan out butter crackers in a curved line along one edge. Stack pretzel sticks in a small bundle. Arrange baguette slices in a separate cluster.
  5. Fill in with candy: Fill small bowls with candy corn, gummy worms, and dark chocolate pieces. Scatter mini candy bars in empty spaces around cheese and crackers.
  6. Add fresh elements: Place small clusters of grapes in remaining gaps. Tuck apple slices near brie and goat cheese. Arrange dried figs or apricots next to cheddar.
  7. Finish with decorations: If using, stick edible eyes on cheese cubes or apple slices. Sprinkle Halloween sprinkles over brie or goat cheese. Drizzle honey over brie if desired. Fill any empty spots with extra crackers or candy.
  8. Serve immediately or refrigerate: Best served at room temperature. If made ahead, remove from fridge 20 minutes before serving. Cover loosely with plastic wrap if refrigerating for more than an hour.

Notes

For best results, serve at room temperature. If making ahead, assemble up to 2 hours before serving and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Do not refrigerate once assembled to prevent crackers from getting stale. For a dairy-free version, use plant-based cheese alternatives and dairy-free dark chocolate. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crackers and check pretzel labels.
